is the central, institutional repository of biological specimens at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It provides biobanking and specimen processing services to St. Jude researchers. The Biorepository processes, stores, and distributes specimens for numerous clinical trials. Additionally, the Biorepository banks left-over diagnostic specimens for future research, under the TBANK protocol. We are seeking a Supervisor to manage and coordinate the activities and responsibilites of the St. Jude Biorepository.
The successful person will be responsible for all technical work in the St. Jude Biorepository and for the supervision of the Biorepository in the absence of the Technical Director. The Supervisor-Biorepository oversees the work of the Biorepository Specialist. He/she helps maintain a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the Biorepository. Reviews publications to seek out new procedures that would be beneficial to the Biorepository and works with the Technical Director to validate and implement new procedures. Maintains and ensures compliance with all requirements of ISBER and the CAP Biorepository Accreditation Program. Department will designate and maintain records for individual specific qualifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory technologist training program that was, at the time of graduation, either NAACLS approved or approved pursuant to TN Rule 1200-06-02-.04. Educational requirements may be waived for applicants possessing HEW certification from passing the Health and Human Services proficiency examination on or before September 1, 1997 and who meet criteria outlined in TN Rule 1200-06-02-.22.
- Six (6) years of experience as a Medical Technologist or equivalent position. Documented work experience within the last five (5) years in administrative and quality processes such as method validation, managing quality control, non-conforming event management, auditing, writing standard operating procedures, inventory management and ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g, CAP, TJC).
- Tennessee licensure as Medical Technologist-General or as a Special Analyst in assigned laboratory section required or eligible. Licensure must be obtained prior to working in lab independently.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP, NCA, or AMT preferredSpecialist Certification in assigned area by recognized accrediting body such as ASCP preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license from the employee's state of residence and a valid insurance policy on the vehicle which meets the requirements for the state of Tennessee.
