Metro Health is seeking COVID Vaccinators
This position can be scheduled to work at various Metro Health locations including but not limited to: 1310 E. Beltline, Caledonia, Cedar Springs, Health Park East, Jenison, and the Metro Health Village. Candidates must be open to working at any location.
Scheduled shifts will vary between working as a vaccinator and working in our vaccine call center.
General Summary:
Vaccinators are responsible for administering licensed vaccines to patients within the vaccine clinic and at various outpatient practices.
Qualifications
- High school degree (or GED) required.
- Certified/Registered MA, Practical Nurse Licensure, Registered Professional Nurse licensure or Licensed Physician Assistant required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required for Urgent Care and preferred for all other departments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform vaccination methods with minimal guidance
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with the medical team
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and correctly
- Knowledge of infection prevention & control standards and practices
- Flexible, organized and able to function under stressful situations
- Ability to understand, interpret and apply instructions, guidelines and procedures
- Culturally sensitive and able to work with ethnically diverse patient populations
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks
- Intermediate experience with computers and information systems
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for administration of an intramuscular (IM) vaccine.
- Sanitizes exam room between patient visits, in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Greets patient and escorts to the exam room.
- Follows patient identification policies as written.
- Verify questions on patient information sheet are answered and consult with Pharmacist as needed.
- Fill out CDC vaccine card for the patient.
- Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
