OVERVIEW
As a Logistics Planner, you will manage production and distribution planning activities for the plant. This will include raw material planning. This role reports to the Sr. Finance/Logistics Manager with close relationships to other planners, operations, quality, vendors, and GMI corporate contacts.
Located in beautiful Northern Michigan, Reed City is a manufacturing facility of approx. 420+ dedicated employees serving the Dairy Operating Unit. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Understand and be able to effectively use SAP R/3, APO and MRP for finite production scheduling, materials planning and product deployment
* Managing ingredient & packaging material inventories to ensure adequate supplies while considering carrying costs, production requirements, inbound transportation logistics & internal planning limitations
* Setting up and planning new or changes to ingredients/packaging materials to support plant and corporate change initiatives
* Maintain data integrity on short- and long-term basis within planning systems
* Collaborate with other Logistics planners to maximize opportunities for synergies (i.e. load consolidation) and minimize inefficiencies (i.e. detention and demurrage)
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the plant as well as externally to deliver service goals, plant efficiency targets and total landed cost
* Manage replenishment stream to plant by utilizing supplier relationships
* Drive efficiencies in work processes and the replenishment stream while meeting department and plant objectives
* Backup/backfill other Logistics roles as necessary
* Embrace and execute broader Logistics and plant initiatives as necessary
* Coordinate and manage outbound needs
* Coordinate and manage plant and customer needs so that all are fulfilled to the highest capacity
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge in MRP planning, warehousing & distribution operations
* Ability to be effective in a position that demands adaptability/flexibility
* Strong organizational/prioritization skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks within tight timelines
* Experience of production scheduling, distribution, materials planning, inventory management or transportation
* Strong analytical skills
* Strong computer skills including extensive knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in any major; Business, Accounting, Logistics, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, or Transportation
* Demonstrates unquestionable integrity

* Effectively communicate and work with people at all levels of the organization as well as with external partners
* Leads and encourages innovation and root cause problem resolution
