Job Description: The primary function will be performing COVID rapid antigen tests on prisoners and visitors – family and friends of the prisoners that will be allowed inside the prisons for non-contact visits. All in person visits must be scheduled. The visiting schedule will dictate the daily tasks. If there are no visits on the schedule, staff will assist in the health care clinic with routine duties (assisting medical records, filing, random clinic duties as assigned).
Staff may be asked to work at multiple locations, dictated by the visiting schedules at each respective facility. Staff are guaranteed 32-40 hours per week. Overtime is available, but not mandatory. The hours are different for each prison based on their visiting schedules. General work hours will be between 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. Staff will work every other weekend. Staff can work part time if they prefer. Shifts can vary, 10 or 12-hour shifts may be required at some locations.
Staff will be allowed travel expenses. Standard mileage rates for personal vehicle use when travel is required between facilities. Any meals will be reimbursed based on the MDOC travel regulations.
Requirements: Candidates should be prepared to work independently inside a prison setting with direct contact with inmates. They will have to get the visiting schedule for each shift and plan testing of prisoners and visitors accordingly. All prisoners and visitors must be tested the day of the visit, prior to the visit.
Personal protective equipment is required for all testing duties and will be provided by the MDOC. Masks must always be worn on facility grounds.
