The Chief Engineer is responsible for the hands-on implementation of property repairs and preventive maintenance of the entire hotel facility and supervision of Engineering and Grounds staff in accordance with hotel policies, hotel brand standards and OSHA requirements for the 194 room Hilton Garden Inn-Southfield. Pay is $12 to $15/hr depending on experience.
Perform routine maintenance on mechanical and technological equipment and determining what kind of maintenance is needed to include HVAC, pool-spa, all kitchen equipment, and audio visual.
Have the ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing solutions
Responsible for management of maintenance expenses to maximize hotel profitability
Assists with the preparation and management of the department budget
Collaborates with General Manager to prioritize improvements through capital expenditures
Conduct routine inspections of the hotel property to maintain standards per brand, local, state and federal regulations.
To perform and/or assign all preventative maintenance work. (Complete all guest rooms every 90 days).
Remedy guest complaints within 30 minutes, or if not possible, notify the Front Desk or Manager on Duty for proper follow-up.
Comply with Departmental, Hotel and Corporate Standard Operating Procedures to drive overall guest satisfaction.
Clean and maintain the pool, i.e. back washing vacuuming, and keeping the tiles and skimmer clean.
Supervision, scheduling, training, hiring, performance reviews and disciplinary actions for Maintenance and Grounds department employees.
Cost effective administration of all purchasing, receiving, and warehousing of Maintenance Department supplies and equipment .
Ensure that all policies of the hotel are enforced including but not limited to management non-tolerance of harassment, illegal use of drugs and alcohol, and compliance to Uniform standards.
Experience:
Skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping, pool and spa.
Physical Demand Section: Frequent walking, use of ladders, climbing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals. Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate staff.
Must be flexible to work weekends and Holidays
Must be extremely organized & detail oriented with guest needs in mind.
Ability to work alone and with others including outside contractors.
Must possess good Leadership qualities and be able to teach others.
Must self motivated.
