JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Manager will have first-hand involvement in pre-production parts, will be able to problem solve and strategize as a team for the success of our customers and Altron. This position manages multiple projects or programs including the monitoring of project scheduling, acting as the information hub and evaluating all project tasks for efficiency, timeliness, and quality. This role plans for short-term progress, as well as long-term goals. Program Managers proactively manage budgets and timelines. This is a full time, salaried role.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage program activities through all departments.
- Responsible for overseeing the logistics of incoming and outgoing customer parts and Altron’s manufacturing equipment.
Customer Contact:
- Document all meeting minutes and correspondence.
- Issue program timeline updates or changes.
- Schedule review meetings (mechanical reviews, controls reviews, buy-off, etc.).
- Schedule and coordinate Altron run-off. Work with Manufacturing Department to insure coordination of run-off and installation at customer facility.
- Establish milestones for customer input on products or information.
- Route engineering change RFQ or warranty issues.
- Facilitate all customer approvals and buy-off at Altron.
- Communications to accounting for program statuses
- Coordinate job release meeting to production.
Job Scheduling:
- Develop project schedule in Company Master Schedule at job release with operations.
- Evaluate budgets and timing of program.
- Create job flow structure for timeline to fit budgets, timing and manufacturing sequence.
- Identify company and customer milestones to meet.
- Identify long lead items such as special components or services.
Job Design/Build Requirements:
- Understand customer build specifications and monitor adherence.
- Coordinate resolution to design or build issues with customer and design source.
Job Performance Monitor:
- Track performance of department schedule progress and budgets.
- Receive periodic updates from all departments
- Meet with relevant department manager to resolve any schedule deviations or communication problems between departments.
- Monitor and maintain communication within the “Open Issues” database.
Job Change Approval:
- Coordinate program scope changes including internal “1025" changes.
- Initiate or coordinate any customer driven engineering changes.
- Process customer RFQs through the Sales Department. Implement approved customer changes into existing program.
Customer Job Approval/Buy-off:
- Coordinate job run-off and quality requirements for approval at Altron.
Job Closeout Review:
- Chair job closeout meeting.
- Compile job closeout information from meeting (Dept. Managers to bring information in a common format, as required).
Company Policy, Procedure and Standards:
- Monitor adherence throughout the company-to-company policy, procedures, and standards as they relate to the job quality and processing.
- Evaluate current manufacturing methods, project management methods and communication systems and critique for continuous improvement.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Applicable years of experience and education may be considered).
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of automation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in program management in the automation field.
- Automotive and/or heavy truck industry knowledge preferred.
- Ability to read GD&T and mechanical build drawings.
- Understanding of basic controls systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC systems.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Familiarity with CAD Software (SolidWorks and 3D Viewing).
- Capable of complex problem solving and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of business principles, strategic planning and production methods.
- Strong documentation skills essential.
- Occasional travel as needed to customer facilities. Travel will be up to 10% or less and may include some international travel.
- Ability to resolve problems encountered by manufacturing.
- High quality focus important.
- PMP certification a plus.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Prioritizes and handles many tasks simultaneously and has demonstrated organizational skills.
