Position
Sanitation Technician
Position Summary
The sanitation worker is a member of our cleaning crew whose duties are to clean and sanitize processing equipment and processing areas of the plant to meet/exceed Good Manufacturing Practices for cleaning and sanitization. Members of the Sanitation crew are required to completely clean and sanitize the plant quickly and efficiently during relatively short time periods between the plant's normal production shifts. The sanitation worker will also be working around large processing equipment in which chemicals will be used to complete the sanitation process. The sanitation worker must be able to work as a team along with other members of the crew and be flexible and willing to perform varying tasks per the Sanitation Supervisor’s instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines mandated by the employer.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize processing equipment and processing facilities.
- Prevent cross-contamination of product
- Follow all company SSOPs.
- Work safely with the chemicals used in the cleaning process
- Ensure all chemicals are used at proper concentrations.
- Complete all sanitation and required SQF documentation.
- Adheres to all company GMPs and Safety policies.
- Wash and maintain buckets and containers and the sanitary state of the Washing and Drying Room.
- Maintain all sanitation-related equipment
- Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities
- Experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Proven experience in the application of Good Manufacturing Practices preferred
- Previous experience performing janitorial work not required but preferred.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Attention to detail.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent

Physical Demands
- Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds each
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
- Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation
- Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
- Able to work any shift, including overtime
- Competent with using a PC, Word, Excel, and Windows OS
