The Continuous Improvement Specialist drives change for ABT. The Continuous Improvement Specialist identifies and develops safety, quality and productivity improvement initiatives for the Company. The Continuous Improvement Specialist focuses on projects that reduce costs and inventory, improve quality and flow, and improve and stabilize processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean six sigma methods and tools
- Be the expert on Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and overall continuous improvement concepts. Coach and train team members how to use lean six sigma tools and methodologies
- Facilitate Kaizen/CI events. Provide support to ensure improvements are sustained
- Identify product families and utilize value stream mapping to determine efficient process flow and plant layouts
- Implement workplace organization, including 5S and Visual Management
- Implement standard work, visual factory and poke-yoke methods to standardize work and ensure quality
- Develop continuous improvement plans/road maps for CI projects
- Recommend continuous improvement opportunities that support the Company’s strategic plan
- Work with all departments and functions from supplier to customer to aggressively increase inventory turns and improve lead times
- Utilize problems solving methodologies to determine root cause of problems and implement effective and sustainable solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
Job Requirements
- BS Degree in Process or Industrial Engineering, strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving Lean manufacturing with measurable results
- Experience leading change in lean six sigma manufacturing environment, required
- Experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools
- Excellent Problem Solving, Statistical and Analytical skills
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated success
- Excellent computer skills including expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to facilitate team-based initiatives and interact effectively with team members at all levels
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently
