Job Description

Eisenhower Center is launching an innovative, first of its kind, program for Veterans and their families at Selfridge ANGB in Harrison Township. We are relocating, rehabilitating and reintegrating veterans and their families. Clients and their families will be provided with counseling and additional supportive therapies. Veterans will also have access to vocational education and rehabilitation. Eisenhower is looking to employ a compassionate and experienced multi-disciplinary team to improve overall Veteran cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have valid Michigan license;
Minimum 1-year food preparation experience
Associates degree Culinary Arts or, certification by accredited culinary/food service management program
Understanding of various cooking methods, knife skills, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
Servsafe certification recommended
Able to lift 60 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
Good interpersonal communication skills
Ability to give directives in a positive and effective manner, as well as follow directives
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

JOB RESPONSILITIES:

Preparation and service of meals to Veterans and their families relocating to SANGB.
Responsible for kitchen and dining cleaning/sanitation.
Taking into account special dietary and/or nutritional restrictions, develop and prepare meals that are varied, nutritionally balanced and tasteful for residents
Prepares cooking ingredients by appropriately washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.; following proper production techniques and sanitation standards
Clean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances, and maintain work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation according to sanitation guidelines
Expected to develop weekly menus and maintain records of food use and expenditures
Inventory food stock, supplies and equipment; ordering items when appropriate
Participates in training culinary interns and new hire staff
Trash management
Perform other duties that may be assigned.
