General Summary
The Director of Facilities Strategy is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight for the strategy development, compliance, resource planning and execution, regulatory proceedings, and world class plan design based on emerging design standards in concert with proven practices to deliver a balanced, but progressive, strategy in alignment with the Triple Bottom Line (People, Planet, and Profit). The Facilities strategic position includes the development of a strategic plan as well as providing direction for major builds of Company facilities that follow industry leading design specifications. This role will provide oversight of the enterprise project management team members responsible for managing major rebuild projects. This role will be responsible for rate case strategy; developing testimony that will support funding the new construction of field service centers, major renovations and overall plan for facilities. This role will work closely with the Director of Facilities Operations to execute the plan on an annual basis. The facilities assets this role will be responsible for managing includes two corporate headquarter locations in Jackson, Michigan, 20 corporate buildings, 39 field service centers, as well as additional requirements to maintain several other locations including generation plants and compressor stations.

- Provide direct supervision, support, training, and mentoring to the Facilities Strategy team. Assess competencies and knowledge of Facilities professionals and provide leadership and coaching for growth and development.
- Manage multiple initiatives and activities and liaison to other corporate and operations departments
- Participate in the procurement and execution strategies on major contracts for consultants, engineering, and design firms.
- Ensure alignment between Facilities and Operations Support for department goals and CE Way/Lean operations.
- Responsibilities include facilities strategy, space planning, architecture and design,interfacing with consultants, rate case strategy, and execution
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Exposure and experience with facility design, IT development, Lean/6Sigma, Energy Supply, and construction management, preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The location for this position can be remote, or a centrally located service center in the State of Michigan
Requirements/Qualifications
- 10+ years' experience, preferred within the Utility, facilities design, consulting, or related industry providing consistent and efficient customer solutions and/or product management.
- Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in an Engineering or Business field; Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience. Applicable exempt work experience is not required.
- Less than a bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by other technical training / relevant certifications and extensive experience (internal/external) in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
