This position is part of our Advanced Safety and User Experience segment and is located in Troy, Michigan.
Summary:
This role reports to the Executive Director of Product Safety Integrity, and will have the responsibility for identifying functional safety gaps within the engineering execution, providing requisite hands-on training that will strengthen functional safety execution, and driving a culture shift toward safe product designs. Working with staff from Advanced Engineering, Start Center, and Functional Safety, this role will assess overall program risk, perform an initial evaluation of key requirements, interface with development teams. During program execution this role is expected to drive continuous risk assessments of key performance indicators for Functional Safety.
Responsibilities:
- This role is in scope of ISO26262 and ISO/PAS21448
- Work with business acquisition teams and product development to identify risks in new business pursuits and assess the potential risks on program execution.
- Assess the completeness and correctness as well as quality of all documents required for the pursuit process, in particular customer safety requirements and item definition but also the FS Manager's Safety Plan, the Development Interface Agreement, preliminary safety analysis results and other safety relevant work products.
Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):
- This position requires an individual with strong communication and problem solving skills.
- The candidate is expected to be well self-organized
- Ability to assess overall project risk at various stages of product lifecycle.
- Experience as FMEA moderator required
- Provide leadership in identifying critical gaps in product development and functional safety processes
- Highly desirable to have competency in automotive active and passive safety systems.
- Must be pro-active and not one who waits on what to be told to do.
- Advanced degree in engineering or applied math with 10 years automotive experience.
