As a Safety Specialist , you will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems and procedures vital to ensure the overall environment, health, and safety performance in support of the GM field sales Chemical Management team. You will participate in reviews of the environmental policies and procedures, recommend improvements and tackle problems.
Key Responsibilities
Drive customer-specific EHS programs, including crafting and developing site-specific safety plans and address identified plant safety risks.
Drive key safety initiatives including Job Safety Analysis, Site safety risk assessments, risk mitigation, and Management of Change.
Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and/or operating equipment, to minimize EHS impact.
Acts as a PPG representative at Customer meetings and occasionally presents pertinent safety information to Corporate Customer group and prepare and deliver regulatory reports and updates.
Qualifications
B.S. in Safety Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or closely related fields.
From limited experience, such as internship or co-op, up to 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Working understanding of OSHA, risk assessment and risk mitigation techniques; possesses an understanding of industrial (e.g. production/chemical) related equipment; experience with inspections, audits, hazard reviews, and safety analysis; ability to manage projects and inspire change using data analytics.
Flexibility to for domestic travel- up to 25%.
