Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy and headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.8 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.Position SummaryElectric Restoration is an essential function of any utility and is a key aspect of the Electric Grid Management strategy. The Restoration Management team leads storm restoration response, optimizes restoration processes and systems (OMS, ARCOS, Service Suite, Catastrophic Crewing Database, and an internally developed Resource Management database) that deliver exceptional, safe, customer experiences.The Incident Manager:•Is responsible for directing electric restoration activities during storm events that impact the Company's electric grid.•Should be prepared to serve in any role in the storm ICS structure and able to perform multiple storm roles depending on the size of the event.•Will set objectives and direct other storm responders to restore customers safely, quickly and at the lowest cost.•Will interact and communicate with Senior Leaders at the Company along with approving important Company communications that are shared with the media, social media posts and regulatory agencies including the MPSC.When not working storm, the Incident Manager will focus on:•After Action Reviews to identify problems and opportunities, to improve electric restoration process and systems that will maximize Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale (SQCDM).•Working both independently and leading problem-solving teams using the CE Way and other Lean/Six Sigma tools.•Analysis of restoration data with recommendations for solutions to address improvements in public safety, electric reliability and customer experience aligning with our World Class Performance Metrics.•Being technically proficient in Excel, Visio, Access, and SharePoint.Required Qualifications•Basic level understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS).•Basic understanding of the Electric Distribution system and the equipment used to repair and maintain the electric grid.•6+ months of process and systems design including change management and interpersonal skills.•6+ months of experience performing data collection and analysis, quality controls and monitoring, statistical analysis to interpret large data sets and develop business recommendations and continuous improvement initiatives.•Experience interpreting verbal and written requirements and developing robust process maps and accompanying work instructions.•Bachelor's degree in a scientific, technical or business discipline.•Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.This position will be available at the Parnall Office in Jackson or any Electric Operations Headquarters in Michigan (Adrian, Alma, Battle Creek, Bay City, Benzonia, Big Rapids, Boyne City, Cadillac, Clare, Coldwater, East Tawas, Flint, Fremont, Grand Rapids, Hamilton, Hastings, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Kentwood, Lansing, Marshall, Midland, Norton Shores, Owosso, Saginaw, Sparta, Temperance, Traverse City, West Branch) where there is space available.In addition, during this time of uncertainty, we are committed to ensuring the safety and health of our communities and co-workers. This role will be work-from-home until our leadership team has determined it's safe to resume work in the office.Preferred Qualifications•Strong interpersonal skills including building trust and developing relationships across many stakeholders.•Experience with project management, quality, and communication including leading complex projects.•Highly organized with exceptional skills of observation and ability to prioritize and follow through.•Experience with restoration management, emergency management, or Incident Command System (ICS) including courses such as ICS & NIMS courses (ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, etc.).•Practical experience using any of the following tools and software associated with these certifications: PMP, ICS, DMAIC, ASQ, Six Sigma and/or MBA degree.Essential Functions•Lead the Company's response to storm events impacting the electric grid.•Lead and prioritize problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives using the CE Way to support World Class Performance Goals and MPSC regulatory standards.•Work with internal customers and business stakeholders to develop optimized storm processes and standard work.•Develop and maintain knowledge and skills to be a subject matter expert for storm roles and processes including associated IT systems.•Data Analysis and visual presentation, including Statistical Process Control (SPC).•Develop and present materials to Leaders across the Company, regulatory agencies and other industry groups.•Work with Engineering and IT project managers and developers as needed, to provide technical knowledge from the business side as it pertains to electric emergency response.•Design and test the processes and systems.•Lead and listen to a team to develop actionable plans, maintain project schedules, risk, and...
