Product Engineering Co-OpJob Description Summary

Currently, we are looking for talented Engineering students to fill rotational engineering co-op roles throughout the organization.
AAM is seeking candidates that are passionate about automotive engineering & design, excel academically, demonstrate leadership capabilities, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Candidates must also be able to present evidence of academic excellence.Job Description
*Participate in R&D activities and support such activities for strategic product development initiatives that might give AAM an edge in the global market.
*Participate in managing engineering design projects which includes assisting in the design, development, and validation process with lead engineer
*Support product benchmarking analysis by disassembling automotive drive train components, weighing and measuring components, and coordinating a metallurgical analysis of the components.
*Assist with engineering calculations related to the design of automotive drive train components.
*Coordination of prototype builds to meet delivery schedules.
*Manages time to accomplish results including project planning, cost and timing details
*Obtains knowledge of department and its operations.
*Other tasks as assigned
Required Skills and Education
*Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Mechanical Engineering program with a graduation date of December 2021 or later.
*Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher preferred.
*Minimum of 25 hours per week.
*Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in a foreign language strongly preferred.
*High attention to detail and accuracy of information.
*Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to learn other programs used by various AAM departments.
*Excellent organization skills.
*Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
