Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Shift Supervisor, this position is responsible for leading and guiding the activities in the Continuous Brazing Department. Helps to lead the group or shift and assures all production goals are met within the department by identifying and correcting issues within the Brazing process. This individual will have knowledge in tooling set up and helps make decisions based on this skill set.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Ensure process runs on a scheduled basis
- Perform and record the required Inspections per the IPA/CPPS
- Review and follow all posted alerts and deviations
- Review communication boards and fill out all required information
- Understand reaction methods based on inspection results
- Must have good trouble shooting skills to correct any non conformance
- Capable of using the required gauges and inspection tools
- Properly preparing the required samples to allow an accurate reading to verify the sample meets the specification
- Properly identify defects in the inspection samples
- Utilize process specific software for decision making
- Input area specific data into Q-plant/Excel based spread sheets
- Understand mill set up and operational parameters (ex: PSI for Mill forming rolls)
- Perform Tech II mill adjustments (Swimmer size selection, setting the swimmer location within the rolling mill, line blowouts, completing the OPM, Bevel Roll setup and alignment using the alignment blocks, Bevel roll changes, forming roll adjustments and changes, identifying irregularities within the mill utilizing feeler gages, and mill alignments with assistance from ENG/tool room
- Make proactive decisions depending on the scrap trends on all lines
- Assist all process lines within the department to ensure all quality standards and production goals have been met
- Communicate with the shift supervisor or operations manager about any scrap concerns or line specific abnormalities
- Utilize available time towards completing OPM tasks within the department. Must be aware of the indicators that are in place to effectively identify when tasks need to be completed
- Maintain housekeeping expectations
- Work individually or in a team environment
- Must be self-motivated and responsible for decisions made on processing lines
- Direct hourly employees in the department when necessary
- Assists with training new employees within the department when necessary

- Solid trouble shooting skill set with the ability to make decisions that are based off the quality of the product being produced.
- Must be able to identify issues throughout the entire process (ex. Induction heating, cooling, eddy current detection units, rolling mill set up) and base decisions off of the knowledge obtained in these areas.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred candidate will have technical training or certification in tool or die set up. Equivalent technical work experience would be a plus.
Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:
- Hi-Lo certification
- Crane certification

Working Conditions:
