SUMMARY: GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Operates a variety of machines, which have been set-up. Operator to make minor adjustments to produce parts to drawing tolerance. Performs a number of repetitive operations on a machine in order to produce parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Check parts for conformance to specifications using gages, calipers, micrometers, steel rule, and other precision measuring devices;
- Performs calculations (adding, dividing, multiplying, and subtracting) as necessary to determine locations of part features, such as holes, slots, and ribs, working from dimensional drawings, using shop math involving fractions and decimals;
- Packages and labels finished parts as necessary;
- Selects, cross references, and copies proper prints, verifies and corrects errors, plans courses of action in absence of generally used specifications, and makes original decisions about quality and operation sequence;
- Completes appropriate paperwork (production cards, move tickets, etc.);
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school education; or at least one month to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical knowledge is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
