JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibility
- Administration of local area network including the localized mail server. This includes the installation of all localized software and hardware upgrades
- Security administration for the LAN and business applications as applicable
- Coordination of IT vendors for delivery and maintenance of equipment and software
- The local administration of BWI's IT standards, policies, procedures and guidelines
- The coordination of education and training for IT related activities within the plant site
- Maintaining the inventory records of IT related activities within the plant site
- Maintaining the inventory records of IT hardware and purchased software at the plant site. This includes insuring compliance with software licensing requirements
- Works with the plant manager to provide the coordination of all new program launches IT requirements coming into the facility
- Insuring that IT system backups are taken on a scheduled basis
- Insuring that backup systems and procedures are documented and in place to insure continuation of the business during an outage of the mainline support systems
- Provides the 1st line of defense for the facility in the event of an outage in the mainline systems
- Provides the IT interface at the plant level for all IT related activities within the facility
- Assisting with the development of project justifications for hardware, software and systems
- Provides day to day support for localized users of the IT applications at the site
- Engage in supporting Production from a hands on perspective
- Provide support for ASRS system
Qualifications Requirements:

- Must possess excellent people and communications skills
- Must be willing to travel occasionally, including out of the country
- Willingness to be on call 24x7 VIA a paging device
- Familiarity with the baseline manufacturing system for the facility (Either CSI or QAD MFG/Pro)
- Experience with computer wiring and cabling systems.
- Experience with Northern Telecom phone systems
- Experience with Intermec barcode equipment and bar-coding applications.
- Accreditation as a Novell CAN or CNE (Certified Network Engineer)
- PLC back ground is a plus
Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of a 4 year degree, preferable with an emphasis on IT. A minimum of 2 years experience in LAN administration and working within a UNIX environment. A minimum of accreditation of a Novell CAN (Computer Network Administrator). A minimum of two years experience with the installations and use of Microsoft Operating systems and their suite of applications
