Reports to: Quality Operations Leader
THE ROLE YOU PLAY IN THE COMPANY: You will report directly to the Quality Operations Leader. This position is a ‘key leverage point’ in processes used in the company to delivering quality product to our customers and protecting the company from customer issues thus ensuring customer satisfaction. Your role, in a nutshell, is to ensure validation of product ‘at the press’ and on the production floor thus eliminating the validation of product off of the floor. You will accomplish this by performing the following duties and responsibilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: You will be responsible for performing 1st Shot validations, In-process Inspections, and Last Piece Validations. You will receive direction from the Quality Operations Manager who will be your coach and first level resource person. You will succeed in performing validations ‘on the floor’ via the following actions.
- Using your mobile check cart you will validate 1st Shot parts immediately after the Mold Setter is confident he/she has parts ready for validation. You will perform a visual check, perform a part weight, and will check 3 to 6 key points. You will log all of your checks. You will authorize the start of production.
- You will retain the 1st Shot parts on your cart until cool. Once cool, you will take the parts to the laser scanner, scan the parts, saving the results and then you will continue with in-process inspections.
- You will validate all paperwork at the press and in particular, labels.
- Using your mobile check cart, you will repeat the 1st Shot validation process on ‘In-process’ product thus re-validating and recording the results.
- Using your mobile check cart, you will repeat the 1st Shot validation process on the Last Shot and will record the results.
- The Quality Lab exists to support Operations and Engineering. Qualifying product is the primary focus of the Quality Department so that Operations can fulfill their responsibility of meeting production requirements. When you require Lab assistance the response must be immediate. You will be responsible for contacting and coordinating with the Lab to ensure the information needed is provided with the goal of helping Operations to achieve their required production schedules.
- You will retain the Last Shots for reference at next start-up by delivering them to the Quality Supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use a lap-top and the Davalor quality records retention databases, to use a gram scale and a laser scanner.
- A desire to work cooperatively with Operations to ensure we deliver quality product to the customer all the time, every time.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work with people so as to achieve positive outcomes for the company and our customers while balancing accountability and discipline to process.
PERFORMANCE METRICS: Your performance will be monitored and there will be reviews with the Quality Operations Supervisor and the Quality Manager. Reviews will be ‘data-driven’. The data which will used to grade your performance is:
- Number internal rejects.
- Number customer concerns… Customer Scorecards.
- Failures of Operations to meet production requirements.
