Job Summary:
The Junior Buyer, under the guidance of Buyers and department management, ensures the consistent supply of quality products across multiple categories to be sold to customers through various sales channels. They assist the department with tasks and projects deemed necessary for the successful operation of the business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Negotiates prices, quantities, freight terms, and placement of purchase orders with assigned vendors
- Directs business support staff on adjustments, updates, and cancellations as needed for purchase orders
- Manages, creates, and grows manufacturer and vendor relationships to improve overall offer size, purchase costs, and efficiency
- Communicates with assigned vendors to assist operations with resolving quality issues, receiving discrepancies, and ensures timely pickup and delivery of all purchase orders
- Understands the urgency and planning required by the nature of the closeout/overstock market
- Creates, maintains, and contributes to improvement on all processes and procedures to achieve the company’s objectives
- Audits receipts of invoices from assigned vendors for accuracy of quantity, dating, and pricing
- Analyzes inventory reports and dashboards in addition to partnering with the sales, retail, and repack departments to replenish levels of inventory by category based on historical movement, seasonality, and promotional activities per the competitive market
- Identifies and communicates market trends or conditions to Management that may impact business performance or customer satisfaction
- Has strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
- Reaches out to or prospects alternate vendors when categories are absent or lack a consistent supply
- Can travel periodically to meet or visit with vendors, attend food shows and/or marketing events

Work Environment:
The work is generally performed in an office environment. Frequent telephone and computer use are required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Typical days/hours of work will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, however, some flexibility may be required.
Required Educational Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Preferred Education:
- Associates Degree
- 2 yrs. administrative experience within a purchasing, logistics, or similar department
