The IT Technical Analyst performs standard technical analytical or administrative tasks associated with business processes and/or department specialization. The IT asset management function of Consumers Energy is responsible for the management of technology assets, which includes optimizing the value and cost of technology assets while mitigating the risks these assets present to the organization throughout their life. This is done by establishing an effective technology lifecycle that spans from technology asset selection, operation, refresh, migration, optimization, all the way through the retirement and disposal of the asset. The IT Technical Analyst supports the administration activities needed for governance of this life cycle and reporting data that is captured throughout the lifecycle to improve the management of assets within the organization.
Individual must be proactive, with excellent follow-through (including documentation): dependable to keep leadership informed of all relevant issues, effective at completing all initiatives from start to finish with little oversight.
Will have responsibility for specific day-to-day operations, assisting with third-party service providers. Must be familiar with most of these technologies and related lifecycle management: hardware, software, cloud, support maintenance, licensing, contracts, external vendor audits, and internal audits. Must be adept at general risk identification and analysis, utilizing data and preparing reports, knowing how to effectively present issues to leadership for decisions. Experienced with administration and operations of IT (or similar) asset management concepts. Must be familiar with these technology systems/tools (or similar): Snow, SCCM, SAP, ServiceNow, SharePoint, Teams. In-depth knowledge and experience required in at least one area (preferably technology-related): compliance management, software licensing use rights, and/or maintenance support contract renewals. Must be experienced in most or all of these areas (preferably technology-related): negotiating and managing contracts, risk analysis, mitigating/managing risk, cost optimization, preparing reports, giving presentations.
Responsibilities:
Support the IT Asset Management (ITAM) team in one of these primary areas and assist/support other two remaining areas, as needed:
- Technology Compliance Management Operations
- Support the IT governance compliance review process
- Support enforcement of IT compliance standards, processes, ITAM policies, and in accordance to applicable laws and regulations.
- Analyze data, reports for software & hardware assets
- Identify risks, facilitate risk reporting, risk mitigation/management
- Facilitate operational tasks, reports for external vendor and internal audits (working with the Software team)
- Document and manage compliance review processes
- Perform end-to-end asset compliance management
- Software Use Rights & License Management Operations
- Perform contract reviews & license entitlement validation, use right and other analysis
- Work with portfolios to proactively manage licenses and subscriptions on behalf of the Company
- Input data, validate data accuracy in license management tool, produce reports, take action
- Negotiate with technology vendors
- Review new technology purchases
- Perform end-to-end asset lifecycle management
- Technology Maintenance Support Renewals Operations
- Support and facilitate the IT maintenance renewal process
- Facilitate & complete the renewals for key vendors: work with stakeholders to validate need, validate documents, optimize/co-term and consolidate; provide oversight on non-key vendor renewals
- Prepare renewal management reports, escalate issues if needed, ensure renewals completed on-time
- Review new technology purchases
All areas proactively identify and facilitate cost reduction opportunities. Prepare reports and track KPI metrics demonstrating results and taking corrective action, if needed. All areas assist with third-party support providers.
Analyze technology contracts, negotiate contracts with vendors, perform contract lifecycle management.
Support process improvement practices, improve templates, optimize tools, reduce waste. Develop strong business relationships and be a proponent to help us expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an IT field such as Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or Business related. Equivalent and related experience could be considered in Leui of a degree.
- 3+ Years of Experience
Essential Functions:
General Knowledge: Must be familiar with general/high-level administration and end-to-end operations of IT asset management processes for these technologies: hardware, software, cloud/XaaS.
In-depth Knowledge: Must have detail-level experience in at least one area (preferably in technology): compliance management, software use rights & license management, and/or maintenance support contract renewals.
In-depth Knowledge: Must have detail-level experience in three or more of these areas: technology contract analysis, procurement processes, software licensing entitlement management, data management/reporting, compliance management, physical inventorying, risk identification, risk mitigation/management, cost optimization, external vendor audits, and internal audits.
Must be adept at utilizing data and preparing reports, knowing how to effectively present issues to leadership for decisions.
Must be familiar with these technology systems/tools (or similar): Snow, SCCM, SAP, ServiceNow, SharePoint, Teams.
