Summary of Position: | The Human Resource Customer Service (HR) Representative is responsible for supporting a broad range of human resources functions. This person will be the face of HR customer service at the front desk. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support and engage in cross-functional HR projects. This individual must possess exceptional customer service skills, communicate effectively and professionally (both verbally and in writing), and demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision. The HR Representative will support and perform responsibilities in the employment and benefits areas. The successful candidate must be pleasant, responsive, excel at problem solving, initiate solutions and work with and maintain confidential information. The successful candidate must also be a self-starter, committed to lifelong learning, and possess a high value for collaboration. The HR Representative must value working with a diverse constituency. Proficiency with MS Office and Excel is required. Will report directly to the Associate Vice President-HR. This position is part-time. The hours are 12:00 - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. | |

Duties/Responsibilities: | Provide excellent customer service, in person, online and on the phone; assist others to resolve problems.
Establish and maintain open communication with all employees.
Assist applicants and hiring managers with the application process; be an expert in the applicant tracking system.
Respond to employment verification requests.
Process and track Personnel Action Forms (PAFs).
Support the maintenance, reconciliation, and audits of HR data.
Assist in guidance of faculty and staff in compliance with policies/procedures and contract language or refer them to an expert in the HR department.
Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and Ferris policies related to HR responsibilities; remain current on changes in State and Federal labor laws.
Work with Student Employees and HR interns to help provide strong learning experience for them.
Order and track supplies for HR office and Copier station; reconcile invoices.
Assist the maintenance of the department budget.
Oversee move from paper files to electronic files; ensure accuracy of work and legal requirements.
Perform other related duties and functions as assigned.
Treat every interaction with "servant leader" attitude.
Interact with students,co-workers and the public in positive, supportive and collaborative ways.
Carry out responsibilities in accordance with University policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all University and employee information.

Skills and Abilities: | Achieve a strong working knowledge of HR systems (Banner HR and HR Talent Management System).
Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, in a timely manner.
Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work cooperatively with the HR team and Ferris employees, vendors, and departments.
Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Ability to learn and understand the complexities of the job.
