Job Summary
DBA position to actively participate in the organization's transition of database application design, development, and maintenance to the cloud. We are seeking a talented Cloud database professional with a proven track record of administration, engineering and operationalizing the Cloud Data Platform including integration with associated AWS Services.
Responsibilities:
Migrate on-prem MS SQL Server database systems to AWS/Azure Cloud native database platforms such as RDS/DynamoDB or Azure datalake/snowflake.
Analyze on-premises database environments such as SQL Server, Oracle, or other Commercial DB Engines to Open Source Engines like Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL or RedShift, DynamoDB.
Consult for optimal design of database environments, analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performance
Develop innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems
Perform physical implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions such as multi-AZ, replication, and disaster recovery solutions
Monitor database efficiency and maintains database performance by troubleshooting problems, fine tune the database environments and performs capacity planning
Audit user activity to ensure integrity and performance of the database
Troubleshoot and resolves database data and performance issues
Implement and maintains multiple database environments
Manage, support and maintain Cloud database environment as well as MS SQL Server databases and infrastructure, adhering to the architectural guidelines and policies
Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new hardware and platforms
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
5+years of data engineering and/or data warehousing experience
5+ years of TSQL/PLSQL experience
3+ years of deep experience building cloud database solutions (RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift)
3+ years of experience with administration and tuning of RDBMS database platforms, developing database and analytical applications with languages, such as: SQL/NoSQL, Python
Proficiency in writing SQL scripts and packages for administration and application support
Hands-onexperience with big data application development and/or with cloud data warehousing (e.g.Spark, Redshift, Snowflake, Azure SQL DW,BigQuery)is a big plus
Strong knowledge and extensive experience with AWS native database cloud technologies
Experience with AWS EBS Volume technologies
Knowledge of design and integration principles for complex, heterogeneous databases
Strong knowledge and extensive experience with Microsoft SQL server technologies and database concepts is mandatory
Excellent in troubleshooting production or development environments issues and problem solving (in both infrastructure and database performance)
Excellent database infrastructure knowledge, including the surrounding technologies that support complex database systems (Physical and VM Compute Infrastructure, SAN Infrastructure, Network Infrastructure, etc.)
Self-starter, faster learner, and the ability to multi-task are mandatory
Team player and the ability to work effectively within a group as well as independently motivated with minimal supervision
Excellent problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills
Able to perform after-hours and/or weekend support when required
