SUMMARY:
Directs the development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive environmental, safety and health programs for Iceberg Enterprises including programs, policies and procedures that are compliant and promote continuous improvement. Provides the leadership, direction and support necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and standards to meet or exceed relevant internal and external safety & environmental standards in a manner consistent with sound business practice. Requires the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels within and outside the organization from corporate and plant management to supervisors and hourly employees in the production areas. Requires the ability to effectively manage personnel and budget to meet targeted objectives. The position may direct the work of other salary or hourly persons and/or consultants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and direction in the development, administration and maintenance of HSE compliance and continuous improvement program elements to all levels of the organization and across all functional groups. Serve as liaison with applicable external regulatory agencies and coordinate and follow-up on HSE audits to ensure satisfactory compliance. Ensure all required reports are completed and submitted timely as required.
- Develop, standardize, implement and manage the facility HSE management systems including: employee participation, employee health, hazard analyses, safe operating procedures, training, risk management, spill prevention, hazardous waste, emissions, emergency planning (EPCRA), waste water and all other key system elements.

- Facilitate compliance with facility, corporate and regulatory environmental & safety standards and guidelines through safety audits (both internal and external), safety surveys, risk assessments, inspections, recordkeeping and data documentation. Responsible for investigations, written reports of findings, provide recommendations for corrective or preventive measures and follows up to ensure measures are implemented.
- Ensures that accurate health, environmental and safety (injury/illness/accident) date and metrics are maintained including root cause and preventative actions to reduce risk.
- Maintain current working knowledge of HSE regulations and laws to provide expertise for HSE assessments, capital projects, work orders and general HSE related problem solving at the site and corporate level as needed.
- Manage salary, hourly and contract personnel to perform day to day functions. Manage support staff and personnel development for goal alignment, prioritization of work and coaching for effective performance.
- Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish HSE presence and provide support. Maintain a constant floor presence on all shifts as well as DC.
- Facilitate, drive and oversee the company Safety Committee. Promote the goals and mission of Iceberg safety. Drive Safety Committee participation.
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly/annual trainings and schedule as needed.
- Performs safety audits on sub-contractors
- Works closely with staff in HR, Maint/Eng and Operations on special projects involving plant maint/construction, equipment design and hazard assessments.
- Ensures emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergency situations. Review periodically.
- Maintains all Federal, State and Local permits in current and valid condition.
- Maintains chemical hazardous waste program including chemical accumulation, documentation, proper labeling/containers and accumulation area inspections.
- Provides hazardous material/right to know training and SDS management.
- Maintains safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals).
- Advises manufacturing plants staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Sufficient advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured.
- Performs industrial hygiene activities including maintaining the hearing conservation program any other monitoring programs as necessary.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate performance metrics and outcomes as well as recommending appropriate actions.
- Superior communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to manage and train staff including: organizing, prioritizing, scheduling daily work and projects and promoting professional development. Ability to speak to large groups of people, effectively.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolution
- Able to understand and execute processes including: recognizing employee, owner & customer needs, comm process changes, measuring and assessing success and identifying areas of improvement
- Ability to work under pressure and with time constraints
- Skill in budget preparation and management as well as quoting.
- Ability to develop and implement environmental and safety policies, programs and training
- Exp with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and computer applications at an intermediate level
- Knowledge of manuf practices and processes including water suppression systems
- Ability to adjust work hours as needed, off-shift presence and weekend
- Able to climb ladders and stairs and the ability to lift moderately heavy items such as test equipment or materials
- Demonstrated ability to move between tasks and projects on short notice and to quickly change priorities based on plant and department needs, while still meeting project deadlines (Flexibility is key in this role as priorities change quickly)

TRAVEL:
This position has up to 15% travel.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree in Occupational / Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Eng, Environmental Science, or other HSE related field preferred
- Cert in an EHS related discipline and/or further education is a plus.
- CPR First Responder Certified
- Some HR knowledge and working is a plus
Exp
- Min of 5 years – 7 years of exp in a manuf environment related to HSE program mgmt.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) plus
- Working with a diverse culture a plus
