Advanced Development Engineer - BTM
IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY
As an Electronics Engineer at Gentherm’s Engineering BTM group, you play a key role in developing new technologies such as Cell Connecting Boards (CCBs) that use innovative proprietary flex circuits for monitoring temperature and voltage of electric vehicles and flexible heaters electric vehicles and medical applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibilities:
- Technical lead for further develop of innovative proprietary flexible circuits and heaters; Responsible development of new concepts, response to customer Request for Quotes (RFQs) and development of design guidelines for future designs.
- Ability to read and understand complex interrelated engineering specifications.
- Ability to create compliance matrixes for customer specifications to ensure Gentherm meets the specification or clearly identifies the gaps and potential actions.
- Knowledge, experience and expertise to train the Applications team.

OTHER CORE FUCNTIONS
Electronics Engineer Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Create compliance matrixes (trace matrix) for complex cell connecting board and heater customer specifications to ensure Gentherm meets the specification or clearly identify the gaps and potential actions for Gentherm to meet the functional requirements and user experience.
- Develop circuits for flexible cell connecting boards and heaters to customer functional specifications using Altium software.
- Perform circuit layout of flex circuit cell connecting boards and heaters to the IPC610 standard using Altium software. Optimize the layout for Gentherm’s proprietary Mechanical Structuring Process for manufacture of flex circuits.
- Optimize the circuit layout for process parameters for soldering to copper, aluminum and nickel-copper flex circuits to meet the IPC610 standard by working with the Advanced Manufacturing team and suppliers while utilizing Altium software.
- Develop new technologies and concepts for wireless communication of Li-Ion cell data to the cloud and subsequent reduction of the data to increase cell life and reduce warranty.
- Support development of new concepts for flexible circuit Cell Connecting Board (CCB) systems that monitor electric vehicle battery pack voltage and temperature.
- Support development of new concepts for electric vehicle battery pack flexible heaters to a schedule base on customer RFQs.
- Support development of new concepts for flexible heaters for Medical applications to a schedule base on development schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of relevant experience in circuit design
- Ability to create and sustain relationships throughout the organization enabling productive partnerships.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities by urgency and key deliverable dates
- Demonstrates a “can-do†mindset
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in copper or aluminum chemically etched flexible circuits.
- Experience in chemically etched flexible heaters.
- Experience in development of specification compliance matrix or trace matrix.
- Ability to communicate in both written and oral forms with all levels of the organization.
