Director, Advanced Thermal Systems and Technology
IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY
Join the team that is driving the transformation of Gentherm toward “Digital,†and technology leadership in the Automotive and Medical space! You will own Advanced Technology and product development for Gentherm’s core IP pillar - Thermal Systems. This is a fantastic time to join as the current world heath awareness is creating a tremendous alignment with Gentherm’s mission to create solutions that enable personalized Comfort and Wellness products for a broad variety of consumers. You will lead a small team of highly experienced Engineers in thermal engines/effectors, sensors, and advanced materials, responsible for ideation and creation of new concepts/products across Gentherm’s major business units.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive Gentherm’s innovation pipeline for core Thermal capabilities: From ideation/advanced development to final product integration.
- Partner with Gentherm’s digital innovation team, serving as a catalyst for bringing the system and UX perspective to Gentherm’s advanced product development.
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities via technology adjacencies.
- Lead early stage development of in-cabin heating/cooling systems with key Automotive OEM partners and medical technology providers.
- Engagement with external partners and Universities to perform technical due diligence related to M&A activity.
- Modelling and Simulation of thermal engines and new applications of thermal engines, effectors and sensors.
- Own the Center of Excellence for Mechanical and Thermal Engineering.
- Lead/manage Gentherm’s
- Reports directly to the Gentherm CTO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading development Engineering teams within a product-based business environment.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with 1-D simulation technologies relating to CFD, FEA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Mechanical Engineering OR a combination of education and experience that equals 10 years or more experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading the development of new product categories and delivering to market.
- Demonstrated ability to Thrives on modelling, simulation and rapid prototyping to vet out new ideas.
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience with vehicle HVAC system development (Major OEM or Tier I supplier)
- Must possess strong knowledge of the automotive HVAC ecosystem, including technical relationships with key suppliers.
