Job Description/Responsibilities
The Contractor Planning Lead is responsible for:
•Leading a team of exempt and non-exempt staff to manage overall contractor workload, reporting and performance against key metrics (including COTD, customer backlog targets and storm resourcing).
•Being the primary point of coordination for all aspects of workload and performance with LVD contractors.
•Optimizing work allocation to LVD contractors to meet company objectives relating to productivity, cost and overall work priorities.
•Ensuring workload is scheduled and allocated to contractors in line with planning objectives.
•Supporting planning and scheduling with managing contractor workload, allocation of work assignments and analyzing performance including productivity, value for money and business metrics.
•Leading contractor reporting and analysis including real time contractor crewing levels; working hours and tracking against plan; work assignments and resource availability.
•Securing on-call resource to support storm and holiday contingencies.
•Supporting the evaluation of contractor performance at quarterly reviews.
•Performing a key cross-functional role in problem solving performance (hours worked, work completed and value for money) against workplan objectives.
•Leading waste elimination and continuous improvement to improve contractor performance, including on-time delivery and financial jobs.
•Leading problem solving including cross-functional opportunities with operations and other key stakeholders.
This position may be available in one of the following Work Management Centers (WMC) in Michigan, permitting there is space available: Grand Rapids, Jackson (or Parnall Office), Lansing, Royal Oak or Saginaw.
Required Qualifications
•6 or more years of related exempt work experience in the applicable field.
•Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
•Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive experience in an applicable industry in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience leading a team or project.
•Experience in planning, project management, scheduling, business analysis, work management or storm support.
•Experience working with contracted resources, managing contracts and performance evaluations.
•Advanced degree or MBA.
Essential Functions
•Supports the planning/scheduling functions for the distribution, maintenance, and construction areas of the Company.
•Duties and who this individual reports to may fluctuate between projects, departments, and offices.
•Plans and prepares schedules for arrival of materials and equipment, installation, and repair of gas and electric distribution systems.
•Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each phase to meet client-forecasted master schedule.
•Updates management on schedule status.
•Analyzes designs and construction data and performs mathematical calculations to determine material, tools, and human resource requirements for the schedule.
•Plans and schedules workflow for each required skillset and operation according to previously established sequences and lead times.
•Plans sequence of material, assembly, installation, and other operations for guidance of construction workers.
•Confers with Company management to determine status of projects.
•Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
•Prepares project reports.
•Prepares lists of required materials, tools, and equipment, as required.
•Prepares purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment, as required.
•Understands and follows company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects.
•Assists in client contact and communication.
•Ensures work is scheduled and completed within applicable compliance dates and required documentation is completed.
•Schedules employee training to ensure qualifications are current, as required.
•Utilizes effective communication and problem-solving skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public.
•Attends internal and external meetings.
•Provides support services in a legal and ethical manner.
•In addition, schedulers in Fossil Plant Maintenance support the scheduling activities of routine and emergency plant maintenance/outages, minimizing production impacts.
•Regular attendance is expected.

•Communicates with customers, contractors, and company employees.
