Description
Position Goals:
Manage and oversee the fiduciary tax return preparation and filing process to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of all tax related obligations required of First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors (FMPWA). Provide subject matter expertise on tax related matters for FMPWA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule, monitor and oversee all aspects of fiduciary tax return preparation for FMPWA including:Â
- Trust and Fiduciary Income tax returns.
- Exempt organization returns.
- Private foundation returns.
- Estate Fiduciary returns.
- Selected individual returns.
- Federal estate tax returns.
- 1099R, 5498 & 5500 Information returns (Retirement Accounts).
- All other 1099 reporting (other than noted above).
- Review transactions, asset coding and other CFO (accounting system) postings for tax impact and update or correct as necessary.
- Research complex corporate transactions to ensure correct accounting and reporting for tax purposes when necessary.
- Supervise and oversee all tax preparation services outsourced to third-party providers.
- Oversee and review tax returns prepared by other tax providers to assure proper completion and filing.
- Prepare income tax payments, estimated tax payments and all other disbursements required to state and federal tax agencies including tax withholding payments/reporting for Retirement Accounts.
- Subject matter expertise and active resource on tax related matters for FMPWA.
- Oversee and develop policies and procedures required to assure fiduciary tax objectives and obligations of FMPWA are met.
Position Requirements:
Education -      Bachelor’s degree.
Experience - Â Â Â Â Over three (3) years of related trust, accounting or tax return, or related experience.
Preferred Requirements:
CFA, CPA, CFP designation
