The Senior Mechanical Designer plays a vital role in complex design and engineering projects. Core responsibility is to deliver innovative solutions that suit manufacturing requirements in multiple industries. He / she uses his/her technical expertise and knowledge of design and computer Cad software technologies. The ideal candidate will work under minimal supervision, carrying out a variety of moderate to complex design assignments, exercising considerable to extensive latitude in the use of initiatives and independent judgment. The Designer will work independently on the development of original designs or adaptations requiring specialized experience. The designer may supervise lower level staff on some phases of design.

In this role the ideal candidate will act as a network and think innovatively while executing the following responsibilities:
- Develop innovative engineering solutions in manufacturing of automatic and flexible systems
- Aid product development to the realization of industrial process and automation systems
- Layout and draw orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment
- Able to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
- Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery, using computer-assisted equipment
- Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
- Review, and approve product design and changes
- Perform minor administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports
- Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings
- Draw free hand sketches of designs. May be required to finish drawings onto designated paper for the reproduction of blueprints, and reproduce working drawings on copy machines
- May be required to supervise and train other drafters, technologists, and technicians
- Other duties as required

This role is best suited for a candidate that possess the following qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design, tooling fixtures and in body welding assembly in the automotive industry
- High degree of competence with CAD platforms (NX, Catia, Solidworks and FiDES) and associated application software.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with Google Suites
- Experience with Windows, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of machines, tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Experience in modifying existing 3D and 2D models for ‘kit’ designs, and create new designs using existing references on simple intermediate and complexity systems
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment
