DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Specialists are responsible for the development and execution of product line strategies that bring value to the marketplace. They function as experts in their product lines for the organization. Product Specialists are responsible for product portfolio management, pricing strategy, and project management. They are accountable for growing their product line offering, and achieving sales, margin and market share goals.
Dimensions:
Sales: $30 - 50+ million
Ability to travel: Up to 20%, or as required
Leadership: Manage cross functional teams to accomplish common goals
Strategy
* Develop and execute product line / customer strategies that will drive the sales effort for assigned product lines
* Use government database tools to identify & report on opportunities to grow
* Use government / business tools to track and plan
* Develop product / customer road maps and operating plans
* Execute product line initiatives to achieve objectives
* On-time and within budget to achieve desired results
* Measure effectiveness of initiatives to provide on-going research and analysis
* Develop and demonstrate proficiency in systems available to measure results
* Ability to proactively address changing conditions
* Report findings to other CVA departments
Planning
* Participate in AOP and BSR processes as required
* Develop and implement annual / quote / solicitation pricing strategies for each product to meet pricing targets while insuring market competitiveness
* Work with Supply Chain / Operations team to ensure lead time commitments and military packaging requirements are achieved
Control
* Provides primary pricing strategy / market analysis to ensure competitive position and accuracy
* Provide regular analysis of each product lines’ performance
* Identify government tools and implement tracking templates to monitor solicitations and provide feedback to sales group
* Measure effectiveness of product line strategies to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
Customer Satisfaction
* Develop relationships with the Production Military team and DLA where appropriate
* Maintain customer contact to facilitate flow of market intelligence
* Follow up on bids and ensure timely delivery and quality
Secondary Accountabilities
* Manages product line content – depth and breadth
* Cross functional communication of product initiatives
* Lead team of functional representatives through projects
* Utilize industry contacts to assist with the elimination of excess and surplus inventories
