The Process Improvement Specialist is responsible to assist in identifying, facilitating and implementing process improvements throughout the organization and its affiliates. This role will work with all stakeholders to design and lead continuous improvement projects throughout the organization to accomplish measurable business process improvements. This position will be responsible for executing duties assigned by the Continuous Improvement Manager in adherence with the CI vision. This position will also assist in leading successful implementation of process improvement initiatives and other IT-related projects as they relate to the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Works with all stakeholders to identify high-priority areas for improvement in order to ensure continuous improvement efforts are aligned to and fully support strategic plan goals.
- Works hands-on with process stakeholders to complete the following:
- Document the “current state” process
- Evaluate the “current state” process for improvement
- Get approval where needed on the new, improved process
- Implement the new process
- Document the new process in writing
- Help drive the culture of continuous improvement by providing others with the tools and knowledge they need to execute process improvement activities on their own.
- Develop strong working relationships with co-workers and managers at all levels of the organization, as well as vendors and customers depending on the project.
- Communicate suggested process improvement changes to CI Manager; get approval of strategic plans as needed to support long-range/short range objectives and strategies.
- Work independently to complete projects as assigned.
- Assist in the development, monitoring and tracking of key performance indicators.
- Facilitate meetings with peer groups, Supervisors and managers as necessary to review and examine project status and progress.
- Serve as a change agent promoting the use of Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.
- Facilitates and leads large cross-functional project initiatives for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Ability to travel to outside locations in PA, IA, WI, GA and NE approximately 10% of the time. Local travel in Michigan between Zeeland and Ithaca may be more frequent.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or the ability to obtain one.
- Project Management skills and training with the ability to weigh and manage priorities, in order to meet or exceed deadlines.
- Proficient knowledge and skill of Internet Explorer, & MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word. Also ability to learn and master all company owned software packages (iRely, LoadMaster, Square 9, MS Office, et al).
- Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization using flexibility and diplomacy in interpersonal relationships.
- Analytical and synthesis skills with the ability to influence decision-making.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask (work on several projects at once).
- Willing to travel to affiliate companies in PA, IA, WI, GA, NE and Ithaca MI.
- Proven ability to speak in front of people/groups.
