Melt Manager: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Melt Manager supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in molten metal melting operations; in receiving, receiving inspection and scrap shipping; in charging and operating tapping furnaces; and ensuring that the metal specifications meet the requirements of the customer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Examines materials for conformance to customer quality specifications.
- Supervises operation of melting furnaces and launder system.
- Monitors temperatures of molten metal.
- Observes furnaces, launder system and crucibles for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs or directs workers to make adjustments or repairs to ensure that the equipment will operate at maximum efficiency, within operating perimeters, safely and correctly.
- Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew.
- Maintains flux records.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Trains operators and work crew on proper and safe operation of equipment.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Works with HR and EHS to understand and interpret company policies to workers and supports execution of same.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Evaluates performance; appraising and providing appropriate feedback to employees.
PRIMARY COMPETENCIES:
- Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of IATF16949, SPC, ISO14001
- Must be team-oriented and have demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must be able to obtain a forklift license.

This job is performed in work in conditions which may include seasonal hot and humid conditions, dust, noise and other elements for extended periods of time.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time, exempt position with scheduled hours Monday through Friday. Overtime may occur during the work week or weekends and will be based on production needs. Ability to work during shutdowns and holidays.
