Follows procedures and programs to minimize feed/food safety risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by performing the following duties. In the case that the QA Food Safety Technician is absent, the Production Manager, Corporate QA Manager or another HACCP and PCQI trained individual will handle any Food Safety Matters until the QA Food Safety Technician returns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Responsible for being the onsite PCQI trained personnel for both Animal Feed and Human Food.
- Responsible for monitoring and programing product analysis results and testing equipment.
- Responsible for monitoring and implementing at plant level the necessary food/feed safety plan and its prerequisite programs.
- Responsible for monitoring food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process including collection and shipment of samples for analysis.
- Responsible for performing sanitation verification for the facility
- Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and documentation. Provide various food safety documentation requested by customers, certifying bodies, and regulators.
- Ensures and educates employees on food/feed safety. Make sure food safety manuals are kept current and operations personnel are using correct version of forms, log sheets, etc.
- Perform inspections on products, equipment and machinery to assist in investigations and product dispositions. etc.) Calibration of lab equipment.
- Monthly preventive maintenance on lab equipment and quality check samples.
- Work with pest control contractors, sign off on inspection reports and follow up on recommendations, make sure all licenses and insurance are up to date.
- All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); with two to three year’s experience in Food Manufacturing or Agriculture Quality Assurance. Associates degree preferred.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Ability to find information or answers to problems or challenges when needed.
- Good communication skills and the professionalism to meet committed project deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating system, Explorer & Outlook; Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of FDA and SQF food safety standards
- Experience with sampling, quality checks and lab equipment preferred.
