Dimensional Engineer (Multiple Openings) |
Duties |
Responsible for leading dimensional project improvements on vehicle geometry through part, tooling, or design actions. Work with Metrology Center/Plant/Validation team members to analyze complex parts and sub-assemblies (including sheet metal, exterior, and interior), as well as complex tooling and assembly fixtures, using various measurement systems (including Meisterbock, Quality Assurance Fixtures, Laser Trackers, CMMs, and In-Line Vision Stations). Work with team members through the collection, analysis, and organization of data from multiple sources and help to insure its integrity in order to identify top issues and potential root causes. Work with production personnel, plant quality engineers, and supplier quality to recommend and validate proposed solutions. Verify effectiveness of corrective actions implemented through data analysis. Proactively monitor overall metrology metrics and work with cross-functional teams to drive variation reduction of critical product and process characteristics. Develop and maintain a list of critical product and process characteristics for Body Shop and Stamping Plants. Recommend best gauging methods. Perform data analysis to identify special and common cause problems.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Education: Bachelor* – Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study;
Experience: One* (1) year in the position above or in a related automotive engineering role; Education and/or experience must include:
- Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools to design and model various Photovoltaic (PV) solar systems and interpret the drawings, schemes and tolerance of the system to obtain the desired output.
- Performing data analysis on the implemented systems to identify special and common cause problems, and working with fellow group members to identify root cause and verify effectiveness of corrective actions implemented through data analysis.
- Implement best practices in PV systems, using various gauging methods to better analyze the data.
- Knowledge of basic statistics and SPC concepts as applied to manufacturing processes.
