Seeking a full time Assistant Nurse Manager for day shift, 7a-3:30p $5,000 sign on bonus available for experienced RN's. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Nursing Leadership Team (defined as the Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager and Nursing Supervisor), the Assistant Nurse Manager provides nursing leadership and clinical guidance to nursing staff on the nursing unit. Is responsible for staffing and scheduling adjustments of staff to provide high quality, cost effective nursing care. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative coverage in the absence of other members of the Nursing Leadership Team.QUALIFICATIONS: Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.Bachelors of Science degree in nursing (preferred).Two years of acute care psychiatric-mental health nursing experience.A minimum of one year experience in a leadership role in an acute care setting.Duties:Utilizes the nursing process to ensure appropriate delivery of quality nursing care.Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff during the delivery of quality nursing care.Provides direct patient care as required.Coordinates patient care assignments. Delegates work based on care giver skill and competency.Adjusts unit based staffing as needed to ensure adequate coverage based on designated staff / patient ratios in collaboration with Nurse Manager.Monitors and evaluates nursing care given by conducting medical records audits and comprehensive review of nursing documentation.In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, assists with the evaluation process for assigned nursing staff.Participates on the Nursing Leadership Team in the development of therapeutic programs.Participates in orientation programs for new employees and facilitates on-going nursing continuing education on assigned unit and shift.Coordinates unit based orientation for nursing staff with the designated preceptor for the assigned unit and shift.Collaborates with the Intake Department to ensure timely and appropriate patient admissions to the inpatient nursing units.Directs unit activities in all emergency situations, including fire, internal and external disasters, and environmental hazards in accordance with established emergency management policies and procedures.Possesses current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and is certified by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to provide Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques.Performs other duties as requested by the Nurse Manager and/or the Nursing Supervisor.
