Senior Systems Engineer
Job Description Summary
The Sr. Systems Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, leading, implementing, maintaining, and supporting key server, network, plant floor production and office systems by performing the following duties.
Job Description
- Organize and prioritize work, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to meet management goals
- Translate between end user needs and IT requirements by fine-tuning application functionality and optimization to meet plant operational objectives
- Expand technical knowledge, explore leading technologies and make recommendations to management of new solutions/methods to improve system performance and efficiencies
- Follow established procedures and utilize management metrics and reporting systems
- Maintain and modify applications which fully satisfies the customer's requirements using the appropriate tool set and following the standards set forth by corporate IT
- Maintain and modify supervisor control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems & MS SQL database systems following the standards set forth by corporate controls engineering
- Design, maintain and modify data warehouses following the standards set forth by corporate IT
- Provide data mining and statistical analysis using the appropriate tool set as required by the end user
- Support/Development of mission critical manufacturing application systems including FIS, SCADA, and Traceability systems
- Execute Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning
- Maintain functionality of Barcode Part Tracking, Shipping & Receiving, Security Compliance and Wireless Communications systems
- Sr. level knowledge and ability to write SQL server scripts
- Perform local administration and support of Microsoft Windows servers and Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Perform server backups & recovery
- Support, maintain barcode scanners, repair and restore functionality of barcode printers, minor hardware repair/restoration of PCs and Laptops
- Deliver exceptional service levels to the AAM end user community
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT with a minimum of 5 years in IT supporting the automotive industry preferred
- Extensive experience in XML, MS Visual Studio, RS Linx Gateway and Iconics
- Development/Implementation/Support, Understanding of IP Addressing and Networks (Managed switch setup e.g. Hirschman switch/ Stratix switch)
- Proficient with Microsoft SQL Databases and SQL Server systems, SQL Scripting and database design
- Basic knowledge of Rockwell PLC and RSLogix software
Understanding of automated data management technologies as it relates Rockwell PLC, SCADA and FIS - Proficient with Microsoft Office & Windows operating systems
- Experience with Symbol scanners and Intermec bar code printers a bonus
- Demonstrate a strong desire to work in both a position of influence and "hands-on" delivery/support of mission critical Information Technology solutions
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Successfully complete assigned projects and tasks on time
- Strong ability to work within teams or self-directed
