Position Description
This purpose of this role is to manage and develop suppliers. This role is critical to meeting objectives to improve Launch Performance, Current Model Quality.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct heat treat, foundry, forging supplier assessments - Experienced in conducting CQI9 audits.
- Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans and metrics to monitor performance and continuously improve quality and process and achieve cost reduction targets
- Interface with Customers on critical supplier issues as necessary
- Assist suppliers in problem solving effectiveness including root cause analysis through implementation of corrective actions
- Have the ability to train other SQEs & engineers.
- Benchmark heat treating technology throughout the world
- Lead supplier APQP kick-off meetings and supplier design reviews
- Active member in the AAM Sourcing Committee
- Participate, as needed, on AAM Teams and effectively interact with other AAM technical departments and Assembly Plant personnel to find creative solutions to constraints
- This position requires travel - approximately (50 - 60)% (mostly domestic)
Required Skills and Education
- BS Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology or Metallurgy
- Minimum 5 years experience with heat treat processes and equipment.
- Understands interpretation and application of global quality standards (ISO-9001 & IATF-19649, and VDA 6.3)
- Must be highly motivated, able to multi-task, set priorities and be goal oriented
- Must have a proven ability to lead functional teams, work independently and obtain goal-oriented results; computer literacy; a high level of independent judgment and strong negotiation; communications; analytical and leadership skills
- Ability to represent AAM to outside suppliers and Customers in a professional manner on technical issues.
