Under the direction of the Donor Services Management, is responsible for registering, screening and drawing blood from donors at fixed sites and performs quality control functions. Successfully performs automated procedures while obtaining acceptable products.
Duties And Responsibilities
Performs apheresis procedures per SOP and troubleshoots as necessary, including donor selection and screening all products at all collection sites.
Manages automated apheresis machines, use and mechanics.
Performs and documents daily, weekly, monthly and/or quarterly QC and machine maintenance.
Accurately and timely enters daily product collection into database.
Manages the anticoagulant administration and monitors its affect on the donor and product during procedures.
Expected to perform appropriate operational role to support WB collections.
Maintains automated apheresis proficiency through attending and participating in staff development programs as well as continuing education.
Enter and maintains accurate donor/lab collection records.
Utilize phone and company email as an effective means of professional communication.
Collects optimal products based on donor criteria and inventory need.
Basic duties of Donor Care Specialist (DCS).
Other duties will be assigned, including addendums.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
A valid Michigan driver’s license is required.
Prior phlebotomy and screening experience is preferred.
2-3 years of Michigan Blood experience is preferred.
Healthcare field experience is preferred.
Strong Customer Service experience preferred.
