ROLE SUMMARY
Primary functions include the management and improvement of the Pfizer Kalamazoo site safety program, to meet regulatory compliance obligations and conformance with Pfizer Global Standards. This role will be part of a team of safety professionals that has the opportunity to develop Health and Safety systems and programs to support the manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, Drug Product packaging and filling (both Aseptic & Non- Aseptic), as well as Maintenance, Utilities, Warehouse and Laboratory functions.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work independently in the field to identify risks and compliance opportunities and propose solutions.
- Evaluate existing and new processes, practices, and equipment to ensure compliance with Health and Safety programs
- Audit and improve compliance programs, associated procedures, and creates plans for implementation of improvements.
- Use recognized analysis tools to perform risk assessments, investigations, and program auditing that result in improvements to Health and Safety programs.
- Conduct incident investigations with a focus on root cause analysis and identifying preventive measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Conduct regulatory gap assessments of assigned program and develop action plans to close any gaps identified.
- Develop written procedures and trainings.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Occupational Safety & Health.
- At least 2 years of experience in successfully implementing safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in assessing EHS risks, developing and implementing proactive strategies to minimize risks and process deviations.
- Experience in conducting incident investigations.
- Experience in developing and conducting field inspections.
- Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project Management, Power Point and TEAMS).
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, leadership, has excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge in Industrial Hygiene.
- Project Management Experience
- Experience implementing lean concepts.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform field observations which could involve walking or standing on uneven terrain, squatting, bending, twisting, turning, and reaching above shoulder height and work in various climates from extreme cold to heat.
* Able to lift and carry minimum 25 lbs. occasionally
* Able to stand or walk for periods of 8 hours or more
* Sit for extended periods of time
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Candidates are expected to be on call. The position at times will require working varying shifts to support the needs of the EHS organization and the business.
