The Powertrain Battery and Cell Analysis Engineer is responsible for high voltage and low voltage Lithium ion battery performance and aging simulation and prediction to support battery (cells, modules, pack) design, development and optimization through virtual analysis tools. The Engineer is also responsible for analysis methodologies and processes development and documentation.
The responsibility of the Engineer includes, but is not limited to:
•Develop, test and correlate high-fidelity physics-based models for high/low voltage Lithium ion batteries
•Develop aging models for Lithium ion high voltage batteries
•Provide components and subsystem design and development direction
•Support battery-management system control and calibration strategy development and optimization
•Execute advanced projects for new methodology and process development
•Document procedures and write technical/progress reports
•Coordinate between different release groups, global simulation teams and suppliers to identify risk and communicate virtual engineering results
Basic Qualifications:
•A minimum of a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•A thorough understanding of Li-Ion cells and electrochemistry demonstrated through coursework or project work
•Excellent organizational skills and effective communication skills w.r.t. technical issues – both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications:
•Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•Demonstrated experience in using one of these CAE tools – MATLAB/Simulink, ABAQUS, COMSOL, FLUENT
•Demonstrated experience with system modeling and analysis of motors, inverters, high-voltage electronics
•Demonstrated experience in calibration, HIL, experimental tests or vehicle/engine performance simulation, electrification PT (ePT) Systems
