JOB DESCRIPTION
- Able to modify existing 3D and 2D models for "Kits” and create new designs for simple and intermediate and complex systems.
- Able to develop Kit Sheet showing before and after.
- Coordinate with and consult with Technical Leaders, Project Engineers, Sr. Mechanical Engineers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Good Knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body Shop), vendor coordination (importing Weld Guns, End of Arm Tooling, etc.), work in model space and paper space, basic understanding of how a GEO and Respot Systems function.
- Have an understanding of customer specifications (corporate and plant), standards, and local and/or national.
- Mechanical Designer A , NX cad skills for Body Assembly, knowledge of FCA North American standards and specifications.
- Good understanding of BA GEO and Fixture Tools for Framing, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and apply standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Analyzing Data or Information -- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Basic Detail stack up and methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up.
- Familiar with NAAMS Standards, FCA Standards, Attributes, tree structure (File & Model).
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of mechanical errors, working with staff and deciding what to do about it.
- Understanding of Mechanical Design Sequences / Controls documents to Controls Design.
