The Design Responsible (DR) for HVAC – Refrigerant Systems is responsible for leading the development of technical solutions for ICE, PHEV, BEV, and autonomous vehicle refrigerant systems and components that meet all functional and business objectives. The DR will ensure technical integrity as well as standardization of design, process and validation across multiple vehicle product lines. Lead a global team of engineers to develop the next generation of refrigerant system using state of the art technology for ICE, PHEV, BEV, and autonomous vehicle refrigerant systems.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent degree) from an ABET accredited program
• 10 years of experience in design, development, and validation of HVAC Refrigerant systems for ICE, PHEV, and BEV Vehicle programs
• Working knowledge of refrigerant system operation for cabin and battery pack cooling including secondary loop and heat pump applications
• Experience in design and release of belt driven and electric compressors, chillers, ac lines, coolant lines, and electronic expansion valves
• Experience with ac line and coolant hose packaging and routing requirements.
Ability to lead a large team
• Track record as a self-starter who is motivated to produce results and stay on schedule
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven ability to manage resources within program constraints to meet all program deliverables
• Strong people development, coaching, mentoring, and motivational skills
• Experience with NX and Teamcenter
• Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
• Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Experience in vehicle manufacturing operations
• In depth knowledge of FCA Design and Release processes and systems
• Experience in the manufacturing of belt driven compressors, electric compressors, electronic expansion valves, chillers, ac lines and coolant hoses
