DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application Engineering is anengineering customer service position. The application engineer works togetherwith the account manager to provide the necessary service to OEM Automotive andHeavy-Duty customers. The business situation and individual skills may dictatethe method of meeting these responsibilities, but the end result will always besuperior customer service and the advancement of the business.
The Application Engineer is theproject manager responsible for the concept, design, development, andproduction support of Piston Ring and Cylinder Liners.This work includes Customer Program Development (APQP); Part Design; Verification& Validation Testing; Failure Analysis; Value Analysis/Value Engineering;Customer Interfacing and Simultaneous Engineering with the manufacturingplants.
The Application Engineer is responsible for actively participating in theappropriate business unit meetings. As a member of these teams, he/she ischallenged to manage the current business situation as well as setting thefuture direction of the business.
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
•Develop new products and materials to meet the changing demands of the marketplace.
•General knowledge of engine performance & test methods as it relates to powertrain systems.
•Prepare tests requests, evaluate test results, and publish final test reports.
•Process Sample Orders and Request For Quotes.
•Assist in root cause analysis of EOT (End of Test) or field returned parts.
•Work with manufacturing plants to assure manufacturability of designs.
•Develop working knowledge of Powertrain Components and Power Cylinder Systems.
•Ability to take a lead role in minor advanced engineering projects.
•Responsible for developing new products as the designated project manager for the Customer
Program Development (APQP) process.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
SKILLS &EXPERIENCE:
•5 years minimum of relevant work experience.
•Excellent interpersonal skills.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•General knowledge of statistics, CAE, and other analysis methods.
•Ability to evaluate business issues and prioritize activities.
•Ability to be self-directed and to completely direct the activities of an account.
•Assist less experienced Application Engineers.
•Have the ability to perform detailed customer presentations.
•Travel as required to support the customer and to support/develop new opportunities.
