Position: The Speech, Language, and Hearing Program (SLHS) in the School of Clinical Sciences at Northern Michigan University invites applications for one, full-time, tenure track, 9 month academic year position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2020. This is a campus-based position. The SLHS program offers an undergraduate degree and is in the process of developing a master's degree program in speech-language pathology.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include teaching undergraduate, graduate courses, development of graduate courses, clinical supervision (if qualified), advising students, pursuing research and scholarly endeavors leading to publication and grants, and participation in campus and community service.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D or doctoral degree in Speech Language Pathology, Audiology or closely related field. Must have a Ph.D. or doctoral degree at the time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to effectively instruct students. Ability to advise and mentor students. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and assessment of outcomes. Ability to work effectively with others in productive ways. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to conduct and supervise scholarly work.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology is highly desired. Experience in an ASHA accredited program, University teaching experience, online teaching experience. All areas of expertise will be considered, however, priority will be given to individuals with expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Voice Disorders, and Velopharyngeal Disorders.
