Job Description
The Electrification Mechanical Engineer will be based in Farmington Hills, MI. In this position you will be responsible for providing technical leadership within the Global Advanced team in all aspects of the business as we continue work and develop advanced DCDC / BMS solutions and new concepts in support of electrified vehicles Battery Pack Systems. This includes but is not limited to the identification of new ideas, prove out and validation of said ideas and new business pursuit.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
* Use technical knowledge and experience in evaluating customer requests for quote (RFQs) relative to high voltage system componentry such as DC-DC converters, battery management systems, etc.
* Mechanical design and electronics packaging of switch mode power supplies, inverters, battery backup power, frequency converters and voltage regulators.
* Assume mechanical engineering responsibility for all product development phases, including quoting, breadboards, mechatronic hardware, electrical components, prototypes, testing, validation and release to production.
* Designs overall mechanical packaging.
* Create required assembly drawings and wire lists / diagrams.
* Create detail drawings for use by outside vendors to make per print fabricated parts.
* Run analysis (thermal and stress) to validate design.
* Prepare for and participate in Design Reviews.
* Provide innovative ideas for improving product performance, manufacture-ability and cost.
* Prepare and design both, high level and detailed packaging drawings to support customers design requirements on high voltage system componentry for hybrid and/or electric vehicle technologies.
* Will be responsible for the design and packaging of DCDC, BMS and battery components.
* Ensure interface and packaging compatibility both internally and externally.
* Integrating with thermal system modeling, including heat transfer and temperature management for the high voltage components like; battery pack and DCDC.
* CAE modeling of the electrified battery components.
* Support purchasing in sourcing of prototype and production components.
* Manage change control through the Flex process.
* Adhere to established Flex product development procedures and processes.
* The Engineer will be responsible to ensure that best practice design features and processes are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, etc. and develop/refine corporate battery electrical requirements and specifications.
