DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tenneco Quality Engineers work toensure a product or service provides a high level of quality that meetscustomer expectations. The Quality Engineer will put in place or support asystem to measure an organization's performance, report on findings, liaisingwith managers and staff, and coordinating procedures to address anydeficiencies. In addition, they formulate or help formulate,quality policies and procedures, as well as conducting training on qualityconcepts and tools. In performing these duties, they interface with manyother departments within the company and with customers and suppliers onquality related issues.
Work activities:
•Creating and maintaining company documentation, such as quality manuals, and quality procedures.
•Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
•Reviews quality trends. Assists in identifying root causes of problem, institutes corrective actions, and verifies effectiveness to drive improvements in capability and performance.
•Responsible for APQP activities and pre-production approval process (PPAP).
•Participates in the decision making process for suspect material disposition.
•Participating in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process related issues in plant operations.
•Assist in maintaining and controlling calibration records for all test and inspection equipment.
•Performing inspection of parts using existing measurement equipment.
•Working with customers as needed to resolve OEM quality concerns and warranty concerns.
•Works well with people and teams and can be a change agent to lead and evolve a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Work conditions:
•Travel: Some travel may be required to support other sites and for training. In addition, it is typical that the Quality Engineer will visit customers to support quality investigations when a concern is identified.
•Working hours: Regular hours are typical. At times, business needs may require early starts and/or late finishes. In addition, depending on work needs, Quality Engineers may need to support activities on weekends (this is the exception, not the rule).
REQUIREMENTS:
Job Requirements (Required/PreferredSkills):
•Bachelor's Degree.
•Manufacturing experience with a minimum of two years in a quality role
•AIAG advanced quality planning (APQP) and PPAP experience.
•Experience with PFMEA, SPC, PPAP.
•Knowledge of statistical packages such as MiniTab and Microsoft Office.
•Sound mathematical and technical skills.
•Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
•Decision making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively.
•Good interpersonal skills and supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Certified as ASQ CQE, preferred.
•IATF 19649 training as an auditor, preferred.
•Six Sigma/Lean project implementation experience, preferred.
