We have an exciting opportunity for a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Therapist to join our team of talented professionals.
As a DBT Therapist in the Adult Behavioral Health Program, you will be responsible for the following:
- Completes the training for DBT and maintains the fidelity model
- Conducts Skill Groups with DBT therapist on weekly basis
- Attends weekly team consultation meetings.
- Ensures client’s after hours on call Skill and Crisis Consultation calls are answered and follow the DBT fidelity model.
- Motivates clients and team to maintain the DBT fidelity model.
- Maintains the order and fidelity of the modules with clients and team.
- Teaches client to maintain ancillary services such as psychiatry, probation and primary care physician.
- Primary responsibility is to participate in the delivery of clinical services, including intake evaluations and direct treatment of adults and families.
- Assess and document the needs of clients who present themselves for outpatient substance abuse, mental health and co-occurring services utilizing Person-Centered
- Planning principals.
- Provide individual, family and group therapy.
- Provide education, coaching and training to the parent, family and/or other supports involved in the client's care.
- Provide substance abuse education, mental health and co-occurring coaching and training.
- Work collaboratively with others in relation to the client and family including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, other family service or support people.
- Advocate on behalf of the client to assist them in meeting their needs and reaching their desired level of self-sufficiency.
- Make referrals to Adult and/or Child Protective Services as required.
- Must meet all of the contractual requirements of the funding sources and/or agency.
- Secure authorization for treatment in third party insurance cases PRIOR to providing any service.
- Compile and maintain all records and reports pertaining to treatment, diagnosis and rendering of services to clients.
- Participate in case/program consultation, including quarterly reviews of cases.
- Maintain expected level of direct and indirect service as designated by the Supervisor.
- Educate the client concerning special issues associated with Chemical Dependency treatment.
- Recognize the behavioral manifestations of chemical dependency and intervene as appropriate.
- Assess client satisfaction and participate in program evaluation as needed.
- Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings and case consultations.
- Complete clinical records and agency documentation in a timely manner consistent with policies and procedures of the Guidance Center.
- Follow a professional code of ethics.
To qualify for this position, you will need the following:
- Candidates must have a Masters in Social Work or related field from an accredited program and the corresponding State of Michigan Licensure (LLMSW, LMSW, TLLP, Ph.D/LP, LLPC, LPC). One year experience working with adult clients with substance abuse/chemical dependency and / or mental health diagnosis.
- Must be eligible for Qualified Mental Health Professional provisional certification with full certification being obtained within 4 months of accepting the role.
- Must demonstrate completion of course work, fieldwork, or job experience which demonstrates competence in individual, family and group substance abuse chemical dependency treatment and mental health.
- Must be able to work as part of the DBT team for consultation meetings, groups and on call duties.
- Must be able to work independently and have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have excellent organizational and attention to detail skills in order to track and prepare data accurately and timely.
- Must have the ability interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
- Individual programs may have additional requirements.
- Additional requirements include: cultural competency, ability to work effectively with a diverse population, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with youth and families in a variety of modes of treatment, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other unit staff and providers, effective communication skills, and a willingness to be flexible.
