The Strategist will report to the VP, Strategy Director. S/he will provide support to multiple brands to apply category, brand and consumer insights for the development of strong marketing and communication strategy. He/She will work with cross functional teams, as follows:
- With the Account teams, to provide strategic support and guidance that informs our daily work
- With Analytics teams, to leverage data insights and strengthen our strategic recommendations
- With Creative teams to guide and inspire more relevant, engaging creative
- With clients to help guide them to achieve strategic and successful programs
- With other cross-functional partners, both inside and outside of the organization, to collaborate on moving the brand/program forward
S/he will have the ability to see the brand through the eyes of the consumer, understanding their wants and needs and identifying smart and innovative marketing opportunities through data analysis and primary and secondary research. The best candidate understands qualitative and quantitative research, with the ability to know the difference between data and insights, executions and ideas, and able to turn knowledge into actionable recommendations.
Requirements:
- Understand business challenges; identify strategic marketing needs and opportunities and guide communications development
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data from all available sources to provide strategic implications, audience insights, consumer personas, Points-of-View, etc.
- Develop inspirational and engaging Creative Briefs and Briefings
- Collaborate with clients and partner agencies on key projects and initiatives; Attend client meetings and represent strategy at internal meetings with cross-functional teams
- Identify research needs and recommend appropriate methodology based on objectives
- Conduct/support communication audits and competitive assessments to identify opportunities
- Monitor cultural and social trends, their impact on consumers attitudes, behavior and perception; Take on a thought leadership role, surfacing new ideas, capabilities and customer needs proactively
- Explore and identify new avenues for communicating effectively and imaginatively to the consumer
- Conduct ad hoc research; answer business questions; write thoughtful and supported Points-of-View on questions.
- Professional/client-ready, engaging deck-writing/storytelling and strong presentation skills
Required Skills:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or greater
- 3+ years’ experience in strategy or planning role in an agency, with direct/CLM/CRM and digital marketing experience a plus
- Direct client experience/interaction is necessary
- Familiarity or experience with socialmedia a plus
- Familiarity with digital marketing, content strategy, website analytics and support a plus
- Resourceful, self-starter with strong problem solving skills and ‘we’ll figure it out’ attitude
- Ability to work independently and lead projects through to completion
- Ability to see the big picture but also develop detail-oriented strategically driven tactics
- A good storyteller with experience writing thought-provoking and inspiring creative briefs and POVs
- Ability to challenge status-quo thinking and champion innovative thinking to push the work forward, but also work collaboratively and effectively within a cross-functional team
- Experience managing qualitative and quantitative research projects a plus
- Solid familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research, both in design/planning and analysis
- Resourceful and extensive experience mining secondary sources for insights
- Strong analytical skills
- Curious, independent thinker driven to find new ways of engaging with consumers
- Well-organized and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong presentation skills
