The Senior Battery Cell Engineer – High Voltage Battery System (HVBS) is responsible for development of advanced automotive battery cells for hybrid and electric vehicle applications.
Responsibilities include:
•Technical leadership of cell engineering team
•Tracking development of the next generation of lithium Ion cell technologies through conference attendance & participation with USABC and other organizations
•Powertrain lead for managing lithium ion cell product development for the FCA portfolio of hybrid and electric vehicles from specifications to production
•Lead lithium ion cell related sourcing activities for FCA vehicles
•Point of Contact between FCA and Tier 1 lithium ion cell manufacturers for production programs
•Plan and execute cell product development with tier 1 suppliers including DFMEA, DVP&R and supporting PPAP
•Manage battery life modeling and prediction
•Conduct production assessments of lithium ion battery manufacturing facilities
•Member of cross function team supporting battery pack design and release engineering
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree from an ABET accredited university
•Minimum of 10 years in of product development and/or process development for lithium Ion battery cells in the automotive environment
•Understanding of energy storage systems and vehicle electrification
•Understanding of process development for lithium ion batteries including: manufacturing for mixing and coating of electrode films
•Experience with PPAP process
•Good Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
•Familiar with EV and HEV
•Highly Motivated and Self Starter
•DVP&R and DFMEA Knowledge
•Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
•Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Equivalent
•Demonstrated experience working directly with battery supply base
•Excellent quality, manufacturing and product assurance planning skills
•Ability to resolve conflicting requirements across multiple organizations
•Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
•Working understanding of PFMEA, DFMEA, and DVP&R
•Familiar with FEA, CAE, and CFD, and thermal analytical tools
•Good communication, problem solving, computer and presentation skills
