Job Summary
Responsible for the oversight of the administration of all retirement income benefit plans: defined contribution (401(k)) and defined benefit (pension) plans, including vendor management and plan compliance. Span of control - Responsible for leading a small team of benefits professionals.
Key Accountabilities
•Conducts bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual audits of 401(k) processes based on existing schedule; supports internal and external annual audits.
•Responsible for all activities to ensure plans are compliant with DOL & other governmental reporting requirements, including 5500 reporting/filing, Summary Annual Reports, Annual Funding Notice, Summary Plan Descriptions, etc.
•Reviews Plan amendments/restatements.
•Provides oversight on the creation and distribution of all retirement income benefit program communications.
•Develops standard operating procedures to standardize and streamline processes by utilizing best practices for all retirement income administration duties.
•Manages all retirement income administration projects.
•Plans modifications of existing benefit programs, utilizing knowledge of laws concerning defined contribution and defined benefit plans and agreements with labor unions to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
•Conducts research and analysis to aid in developing for plan design strategy and for labor negotiations
•Applies a customer focused approach in establishing and maintaining productive internal and external client relationships
•Employs continuous improvement to enhance processes and team synergy
•Assists with Corporate wide initiatives as needed
•Keeps abreast of current trends in utility industry and defined contribution and defined benefit plan administration
•Participates in all discussions with consultants and third party administrators on matters regarding plan design.
•Provides strong leadership coaching and advocate for employee development
•Coordinates and present at education seminars on retirement education and planning, as well as financial wellness
•Assists in the management and development of benefits staff.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
•Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in defined benefit and defined contribution related positions, such as trust investments, benefits administration and benefit plan audits
Other Qualifications
Preferred
•Degree concentration in Business Administration or Human Resources
•Prior experience working with a unionized workforce

•Project management skills including but not limited to excellent planning, time management, decision making, presentation and organization skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication presentation skills, including written presentation content and presentation delivery
•Analytical and problem solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from abroad range of alternatives and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.
•Flexibility and the ability to work with shifting priorities
•Ability to analyze complex financial and benefit related data and develop optimal recommendations and solutions.
