Virtual Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant
Newaygo, Michigan
Currently looking for a Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant to fill an assignment for the 2019-2020 school year in Newaygo, Michigan. Hours are flexible depending on the candidate, as part-time or full-time hours may be available. Our client is also open to a virtual consultant as well.
Responsibilities of the Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant
The Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and/or therapy services to students who are suspected of having a visual impairment that makes them.
Assist in the development of an educational program which can be used in the classroom, school building, and community, as appropriate.
Complete and present a written evaluation report to parents/guardians and local educational agencies within a required timeline.
Participate in the development of an annual individualized educational plan for each child; participate in IEPT, MET and other meetings, as appropriate.
Consult with other personnel including teachers, principals, other ancillary staff, and parents to evaluate program effectiveness. Provide staff development and parent/guardian training.
Complete timely submission of claims to Medicaid for eligible students on caseload.
Provide excellent patient care and compassion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements of the Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant
Bachelor' s or Master s degree in Special Education or field of Education from an accredited school of education.
Full or temporary approval by the State Board of Education as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments.
Approval as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist from the Academy of the Certification of Vision.
Experience in a school setting- Highly Preferred
Knowledge of Braille, Basic Orientation and Mobility, and Adaptive Technology skills.
Compensation of the Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant
Salary: based on experience, benefit level and traveler status.
